FMCSA Clearinghouse help for Bakersfield CDL drivers
Understand SAP designation, reporting, and your return-to-duty status.
Start with the official driver account
Use the FMCSA Clearinghouse to review your record and designate your selected SAP. Ask for help with the designation step if needed; never send your Login.gov password or verification codes through our contact form or chatbot.
Different parties report different steps
The SAP records the initial assessment and determination of eligibility for return-to-duty testing. The employer or authorized C/TPA handles the return-to-duty test result and other employer reporting. SAP completion alone does not perform every Clearinghouse update.
A violation is not erased by SAP completion
Completing the return-to-duty requirements can change your eligibility status; it does not simply delete the violation. Check your account and employer records instead of assuming a completed class removes the record.
Owner-operators and drivers without an employer
Tell us your situation before arranging testing. Owner-operators have employer responsibilities and must coordinate with their C/TPA. A personal drug test arranged independently may not meet DOT return-to-duty requirements.
California commercial driving privileges
Clearinghouse status and state licensing are related but distinct. Review any notice from California DMV and confirm the steps for restoring commercial driving privileges directly with DMV. The SAP does not issue or reinstate a CDL.
