Designate a SAP in the Clearinghouse

Use your own official account

1. Register or sign in through the official FMCSA Clearinghouse.
2. Contact your chosen SAP and confirm availability, credentials, and the appropriate identifying information.
3. Use the driver account’s SAP designation function to select that provider.
4. Confirm the provider has received and accepted your designation before assuming the account step is complete.

Designating a SAP is not an evaluation, a test, or permission to resume driving. Do not choose a provider only because a similar name appears in a search.

Protect your account

Never send Login.gov passwords, verification codes, or Social Security numbers through the contact form or chatbot. For account access problems, use the official account support resources.

If you already have a SAP

Explain your current evaluation status before seeking another provider. Do not assume changing a Clearinghouse designation cancels recommendations or allows a second opinion.
